Angelica maria

Angelica Maria, daughter of Arnie Hartman a musician and Angelica Ortiz, a Mexican film and theater producer. Angelica Maria was born in New Orleans, Louisiana and began her film career at the age of five and hasn't stop ever since.

Until now, she has performed in over 70 films from all genres, musical, comedy and drama. She started in television at age six, in musical shows and after a while she was one of the first actors to participated in Mexico's Telenovelas. Until this day she has participated in over 25 Telenovelas such as "Ana del aire", "El hogar que yo robe" and "Muchacha Italiana Viene a casarse" the telenovela that opened the international markets for Mexican television, from New York to Chile and Europe. In Theatre she debuted at the age of ten and has participated in over 20 different theater productions in the most important theaters houses in the country and with the most important and prestigious producers and play writers.

At seventeen she recorded her first album and earning the title of "Mexico's Sweetheart" "La Novia de Mexico". To this date she has recorded 63 albums. In 1973, she creates "La balada ranchera" becoming the first latin singer to sell two million copies in the U.S. To this date, she stills the only Mexican singer, who has performed twice on the same day at Madison Square Garden in New York. She has participated in hundreds of national and international tours, television shows, personal appearances, and has received more than 200 awards worldwide.

On May 5, 2016, Angelica Maria received her Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. After 73 years of career, she's still working in movies, soap operas, theater, concerts, you name it! She spends her free time between Mexico City and Los Angeles.
