Fabiola brown
Fabiola Brown is a Puerto Rican actress and former professional ballet dancer whose powerful screen debut in the feature film Esta Isla marked her emergence as part of a new generation of Puerto Rican screen talent reaching international audiences.
Born in San Juan and raised in Mayagüez, Brown began her artistic training at age ten at the Western Ballet Theater of Mayagüez under Nana and Mumy Badrena. Over the next decade, she pursued rigorous professional training at internationally respected institutions, including the Joffrey School of Ballet in New York, the National Ballet School of the Dominican Republic, Coda 21 Contemporary Ballet Company in San Juan, and Cuba’s prestigious “Fernando Alonso” National Ballet School — where she became the first Puerto Rican graduate in the institution’s history. She later performed with the Concierto Ballet Company of Puerto Rico.
A career-altering knee injury in 2022 unexpectedly redirected her artistic path toward acting. In 2024, she made her screen debut as the female lead in Esta Isla, a feature film by Experimento Lúdico shot in western Puerto Rico.
The film premiered at the 2025 Tribeca Film Festival, earning multiple honors, including Best Cinematography in a U.S. Narrative Feature, Best New Narrative Director, and a Special Jury Mention, before going on to win the prestigious John Cassavetes Award at the Independent Spirit Awards, one of the highest distinctions in American independent cinema.
Brown’s breakthrough performance drew strong critical acclaim for its emotional authenticity, striking screen presence, and nuanced physical expressiveness, reflecting the discipline and emotional rigor of her artistic training.
Inspired by the filmmaking process, she deepened her commitment to cinema, earning her Magna Cum Laude degree in Film Production from the University of Puerto Rico, Río Piedras, in 2025.
She will next appear in director Michal Zebede’s upcoming feature film Cuba, Paraíso, scheduled to film in Puerto Rico in Spring 2026.
Today, Fabiola Brown continues to develop a body of work defined by emotional depth, artistic discipline, and a strong commitment to cinematic storytelling.
