MERCEDES LOPEZ-RENARD

Mercedes López Renard currently recurs as Colette Girard, the French Bureau Chief for the WSB, a covert government agency on ABC’s "General Hospital." Born in Miami, Florida, Mercedes comes from a family deeply rooted in the performing arts; her father, Roberto López, was a renowned film, stage, and radio actor who fled Cuba in the late 1950s with his family. At the young age of 16, Mercedes was discovered by Elite, a prestigious international modeling agency, leading her to Europe where she quickly adapted to the European lifestyle and became fluent in French and Italian.

Mercedes' acting talent was first recognized in Milan by Academy Award-winning director Giuseppe Tornatore, who invited her to screen-test in Rome. This experience ignited her passion for acting, leading to her first major film role alongside Will Smith and Eva Mendes in the hit movie "Hitch," followed by numerous national commercial campaigns. Her diverse body of work includes prominent roles in the Amazon feature "Tom Clancy’s War Within the Cartel," the Hallmark pilot "Meddling Mom" alongside Sonia Braga and Tony Plana, and guest appearances on acclaimed TV series including "Love," "Law and Order," "The Night Shift," and "NCIS."

Additionally, Mercedes recently created the character Simone Forche for the theatrical production "Shout," which premiered at the Fremont Center Theater. Beyond her professional endeavors, Mercedes actively supports Women for Women International, an organization dedicated to assisting women survivors of war in rebuilding their lives.
